Root Canal Therapy

A root canal procedure is needed when the nerve of the tooth is infected or damaged. Root canal symptoms include strong toothache pain upon chewing, persistent pain to heat or cold, and darkening of the tooth. The tooth nerve can become inflamed and infected due to deep decay, repeated dental work on same tooth, large fillings, crack in the tooth, or trauma. If not treated, the infection may spread to the bone, face, neck, or head.
